A well-shaped brow and a lash lift is an unbeatable accessory that if executed correctly, can transform your daily makeup routine into a striking work of art. However, by the looks of some of the brows and lashes we’ve seen out on the street—in the spirit of tough love—we all could use some more honest friends. It’s time to shape and wow up, sisters. If The Year of AH-Mazing Brows/Lashes are going to stick around for round two, it’s time to go to our boot camp.
A lash lift is like a perm for your lashes. Like old-school perms from the '80s, lash lifts set the shape of your natural lashes using a chemical solution. A lift is essentially what your lash would be doing with a really good mechanical curler, so we will give a nice shape upward and a realistic curl that The process takes about 30 minutes and is virtually painless.
There is no preparation necessary. You can customize your results.
The first step during a session is to consult with your lash artist, who will ask you questions about your goals and style (for example, whether or not you wear mascara everyday, like lashes high upwards to your eyebrows or more fanned out, etc.) Based on your answers, your technician will pick a curl size for your eye shape.
Your lashes are glued down to a silicone shield.
After cleansing the lashes and separating your bottom lashes from your top, a silicone shield gets stuck on the skin using a gentle adhesive (similar to the glue used to apply false lashes). Adhesive is applied on top of the shield as well, then lashes are combed up to take their shape. Here is where eye-safe perming solution is applied.
"he perm solution acts as a softener so that's going in and softening the bond of your hair so that it's moldable.
The perming lotion is left on for six to 12 minutes.
It depends on your hair type. "If you have a hard time curling the hair on your head, let technicians know that when doing lash lifting," Buhler said. It makes sense—the hair on my head is naturally straight, thick, and has a hard time holding a curl without a ton of product so my lashes act the same. It took two rounds of 12 minutes for me ("that's probably the longest in history," Buhler commented). Then, a setting solution and oil are applied.
The setting solution hardens everything back up and restructures the bond and makes them hard again. It locks in the shape. The setting solution is followed by a nourishing lotion, which contains keratin and sodium PCA in it, to add moisture back in the lashes. It also contains aloe vera, grapeseed oil, and glycerin, a humectant that attracts moisture. It's kind of like dyeing or bleaching your hair, then following it with conditioner.
The whole process takes about an hour from start to finish.

Brow Lift Lamination
Brow lamination is an eyebrow perming treatment that involves correcting the brow shape by setting the hairs in place using a chemical solution. Brow lamination is a three-step process. Firstly, a cream is applied that breaks down bonds in the eyebrow hairs so they can be manipulated into a new position. This is followed by a second cream that rebuilds these bonds and sets them in their new position. Thirdly, a Keratin glaze that simply rebuilds moisturize and protein back into the brow hair. If you have unruly, flat or downward growing hairs, eyebrow lamination can change the direction of growth to create a more uniform look with a higher arch and a more desirable brow shape for up to 6 weeks.
If this new on-trend & in-demand technique isn't enough, eyebrow lamination forms just part of our full Brow Sculpt Treatment. Our corrective eyebrow treatment realigns your brow hair into your desired position, making them much easier to manipulate. It can also help to achieve instantly fuller looking eyebrows using your existing hair. Whether you want to correct your shape, lift the hairs, or both of these options, here are the benefits of our bespoke take on the brow lamination treatment.
Brow Lift Lamination starts at $59.
Make you feel more glamorous than you thought possible!
It’s addicting. They accomplish what mascara can never and will never accomplish, no matter how thick and voluminous the formula is: You look like you were born with the thickest, flutteriest, most perfectly curled lashes. There are no clumps, and they’re perfectly tapered from root to tips. And you look that way 24 hours a day. However, they are considered a high-maintenance, time-intensive, and not exactly cheap habit. Here’s what to know before you try them.
Show Up To Your Appointment Bare Faced.
That includes not curling your lashes either. If they’re curled, there’s a crease right by the root, and it’s hard for the lash artist to apply the extensions—it won't be a smooth-finish job. Other things to avoid: mascara, waterproof eye makeup, oily skin care, and eye cream. You basically don’t want anything that’ll interfere with the glue. If you need to work out, go to the gym and take a shower in advance. You can’t get them wet for 24 hours postsession because the adhesive has to dry completely. We even recommend avoiding waterproof eye makeup for up to a week before your appointment. It leaves an invisible film that will keep the lashes from adhering fully.
It's Not An In and Out Kind Of Appointment
Eyelash extensions take a long time, up to 2-3 hours for full set and up to 90 minutes for a fill-in since they’ll need to remove many existing extensions and clean your lashes before applying a new set.
The Best Lashes Are Custom Lashes
Which also means the best lash extensions are pricey and could require a consultation. (Costs vary wildly from salon to salon, but expect a starting point around $150 for the basics and up to $300.) Because everyone’s eyes are different, you’ll want a set that complements your eye shape, lash length, and lifestyle; One curl and length will look completely different on one person versus another.
